About Poppy Oddwood

POPPY ODDWOOD™ crafts stories that range from cosy chaos to something darker lurking at the edges.

Her writing weaves between whimsical fantasy, sharp contemporary fiction, and tales with a little more bite, all tied together by her distinctive voice, keen observations, and characters you'll want to befriend (or occasionally hide from).

Whether she's sending retired witches on absurd quests, skewering modern life's ridiculousness, or venturing into shadowy territory, Poppy creates worlds where the impossible feels perfectly logical and the everyday reveals surprising magic.

She writes from the United Kingdom and drinks more tea than the plots strictly require.

One name, several moods

Poppy Oddwood is the name on every book, cosy or dark, in the way authors like T. Kingfisher write both under one roof. Rather than splitting into separate pen names, the house is organised into shelves, so you always know which door you are walking through:

• Oddwood Whimsy

Humorous fantasy tales filled with charm and cosy moments. Cosy fantasy comedies and playful fairy tale retellings in the lineage of Carroll, Nesbit and Jerome K. Jerome.

• Oddwood Shorts

Complete stories for a single sitting, for when you only have time for a quick escape. Fairy-tale comedies you can finish between a cup of tea and a bath.

• Oddwood Shadow

The darker side of fairy tales, with twisted plots and gothic settings. Dark fantasy, folk horror and gothic fairy tales for adults. Opening soon.

• Oddwood Slice-of-Life

Satire and unique storytelling in unconventional settings. Contemporary comedy with no magic except the everyday kind.
